THIS FILM IS A TRIBUTE
TO STEPHEN KEENAN IN THE FORM OF A DREAM
The "Dubliner" (2019, Ireland/Russia/France/Italy) is a film tribute to Stephen Keenan, an Irish freediver who set a few national records in freediving and was considered among the best safery divers on the planet.
Stephen Keenan had a fatal blackout on the 22nd of July 2017 in the Blue hole, Dahab, Egypt, while providing the safety for Alessia Zecchini, the World champion in freediving and saved her life.
This film is a docufiction and combines few of my dreams on my friend Stephen as well as documentary/interviews with Stephen's family and friends filmed in Ireland, Egypt, Italy and Vietnam.
My intention to make it was driven by the necessity to tell the world what a great man was Stephen Keenan, who knew no fear.
"Dubliner" being my debut as a film director has united the effort of many talented professionals and the result therefore gave me the confidence to launch the film globally.
As a project film "Dubliner" had no sponsor or financial support, so its production "No budget" has become a truly unique experience, manifesting the good will of international film crew contributiong into this film memorial.
Among others, I would like to personally thank the cameramen Bastien Clément, Daniel Isichenko and James Fagan as well as film producers Gary Walshe and Den Mantrov.
